Wires and Wood to share the stage with the legendary Seldom Scene
(Bristol, TN) - The Paramount Center in Bristol, TN will host a benefit concert on March 8, 2007. All proceeds from the concert will be used for the restoration of the historic E.W King House in Bristol.
The concert will feature the Seldom Scene. Since its inception in 1971, the Seldom Scene has thrived on playing bluegrass a little differently than everyone else. If other bands used a fiddler, the Seldom Scene used a Dobro; if others relied on old standards, the Seldom Scene played rock classics like J.J. Gale's "After Midnight." Through skilled musicianship and an urban approach to bluegrass, the Seldom Scene has become one of the most influential - if not the most influential - bluegrass band of the last 30 years.
Opening this exciting night of music will be Bristol, VA based Wires and Wood. In the summer of 2001, Mark Mervis brought together two veterans of Bluegrass Music. Rick Barker, an original member of Appalachian Trail and Eric McMurray of The Scott County Boys and Moccasin Gap. This collaboration formed the nucleus of Wires and Wood. Marked by an eclectic song mix and excellent instrumentation Wires and Wood brings their best to every performance. The addition of Randy Jackson in 2005 and Glen Harlow in 2006 added a new dynamic in song selection and innovation. The band line-up is Mark Mervis (Bass,Vocals), Eric McMurray (Banjo, Vocals), Rick Barker (Guitar, Vocals), Glen Harlow (Mandolin, Vocals , Randy Jackson (Fiddle, Vocals). As music lovers enjoy the Wires and Wood experience, more people become a part of their growing fan base.
Also sharing the bill will be Bristol Tennessee based Duty Free. For more information
